Can you briefly introduce yourself and what you do?
Hi, I’m Jack Hazlewood, a padel coach from the UK. I’m Head of Padel at Padel Shift, where we build and run clubs in some of the most beautiful locations around the UK.
How did you get into padel and what drives your passion for the sport today?
I actually came to padel through tennis. I spent my whole childhood playing and competing, and after a few different roles in marketing and the food industry, I ended up coaching tennis full-time.
After 10+ years in the industry, I discovered padel and was instantly hooked. It felt fresh - like a sport that wasn’t held back by tradition or expectations. It was exciting, forward-thinking, and I just went all in: playing, competing, and coaching.
What does it mean to you to be part of and contribute to the padel community?
It means a lot - it’s probably my favourite part of it all. The energy and passion people have, not just for the game but for each other, is amazing to see. It’s something we’re always trying to build and grow through what we do
What do you enjoy most about being part of events and bringing people together around padel?
I love how free it feels. You can shape events however you want - have a DJ, play great music, people can grab a drink, dress how they like, and just enjoy themselves.
It’s not as rigid as some other sports, and I think that’s a big part of the appeal for me. There’s a bit of a rebellious edge to it, which I like.
What is it about Cuera and your collaboration that appeals to you?
What stood out to me about Cuera is their take on off-court style. I wanted something I could wear for a coffee or a beer before or after playing and still feel comfortable.
I can wear their on-court gear at the gym or out for a run, and the lifestyle pieces work just as well day-to-day. It suits me perfectly because I like that crossover between sport and socialising.
Do you have a favourite Cuera-item?
Yes I practically live in the off court hoodie and sweatpants!
