Padel racket frame protectors – keep your racket looking new

A padel racket takes a beating. Every low ball scooped off the court, every volley that clips the glass and every racket that slips out of your hand leaves a mark on the frame. Over time, chips and scratches on the edge are not just cosmetic: they can expose the material underneath and shorten the life of a racket you have invested in. A frame protector is a small, inexpensive way to prevent that. Our padel frame protectors shield the top of your racket from impacts and scratches, so it stays in top condition for longer.

What is a padel frame protector?

A frame protector is a durable, adhesive strip that you place along the top edge of your padel racket, where most impacts happen. It acts like a bumper: it takes the hits from the ground, the glass and the walls, so the frame itself does not. Most professional and club players use one, and many rackets are sold with a thin protector already fitted. When that one wears out, it is time to replace it.

Why protect your racket frame?

  • Fewer chips and scratches: the protector absorbs knocks against the court, the glass and the metal fencing.
  • A longer racket life: by protecting the edge, you help your racket keep its structural integrity, even after many intense matches.
  • Better resale value: a racket that looks new is worth more if you sell it or trade it in.
  • A personal look: a frame protector with a logo or colour detail gives your racket a finishing touch.

The Cuera Racket Frame Protector

Our Cuera Racket Frame Protector is designed to shield your padel racket from impacts and scratches. It is easy to apply and has a durable surface that lasts, so you can play with peace of mind. Choose between a protector with a walnut logo or a transparent version with a logo, depending on whether you want the protector to stand out or blend in with your racket.

How to apply a frame protector

  1. Clean the top of the frame with a dry cloth, so it is free of dust, grease and old adhesive.
  2. Find the centre of the protector and the centre of the top of your racket.
  3. Start from the middle and press the protector onto the frame, working your way out towards both sides.
  4. Smooth it down firmly so there are no air bubbles or loose edges.
  5. Let the adhesive settle before you play, ideally for a few hours.

If you are replacing an old protector, peel it off slowly and remove any leftover glue before applying the new one.

When should you replace your frame protector?

Replace your protector when it starts to peel at the ends, when it is worn through in places or when it no longer looks clean. How often depends on how much you play and how often you scoop low balls. For many club players, a new protector every few months keeps the racket well protected.

More ways to take care of your padel racket

  • Use a racket sleeve: our Padel Racket Sleeve is made from durable recycled nylon with a water-resistant exterior and a thermally insulated lining that protects your racket from moisture and temperature changes during transport.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures: do not leave your racket in a hot car or out in the cold for long periods, as heat and cold can affect the materials.
  • Carry it in a proper bag: a padel bag with a dedicated racket compartment keeps your racket safe from knocks. See our padel bags.
  • Replace your overgrip regularly: a fresh grip gives better control and reduces the risk of the racket slipping out of your hand.

Does a frame protector affect how the racket plays?

A frame protector adds a few grams to the top of the racket. For most club players, the difference is hard to feel, but some players notice that the racket becomes slightly more head-heavy, which can add a touch of power to smashes. If you are very sensitive to balance, try playing a few sessions with the protector before an important match, so you get used to the feel. The protection it gives the frame almost always outweighs the small change in weight.

Accessories for every padel player

Frame protectors are a great small add-on to any order and a perfect stocking filler for the padel player in your life. Combine one with a pair of padel socks, an arm sleeve or a padel cap for a thoughtful gift.
